Responsibilities:

  • Attending meetings with clients and other stakeholders and ensuring they are well informed and their expectations are managed.

  • Establishing and endorsing Rollingstock maintenance regimes and standards in accordance with relevant standards and codes of practice.

  • Managing and leading projects, controlling budgets, quality and timeliness of deliverables.

  • Develop proposals and undertake business development activities to enhance client relationships and secure further work.

  • To deliver projects to budget, timescale and quality.

  • Preparing technical specifications where required, participating in tender evaluation, reviewing design concepts, drawings and testing and commissioning plans; and conducting technical investigations or fault analyses.

  • Auditing the maintenance performance of maintenance providers to ensure asset life is not compromised which includes, monitoring the updating of the Service Providers planned preventative maintenance schedule to ensure that asset life is not compromised

  • Review the work of other consultants, including taking responsibility for their technical development as required.

  • Manage/lead assurance projects with responsibility for delivering to timescale, quality and budget and manage the client relationship.

  • The provision of strategic input and expert engineering advice within Infrastructure Services and to the Rail Revitalisation Program, including the electrification of the network,

  • Encouraging a continuous improvement culture in order to develop new work practices, procedures or the adoption of new technologies that improve efficiency, effectiveness and cost performance which includes;

  • Leading and tanning staff to develop systems and process for effective performance, identifying areas for improvement and addressing through selection and implementation of training and development programs;

  • Contributing to the development of strategies and initiatives to achieve a successful customer service operation;

  • Reliability of rollingstock meets acceptable levels of performance, audits are conducted as scheduled, and maintenance is performed to schedule by the maintenance providers.

  • Rail Safety, OHS&W, EEO and Environmental Act requirements complied with and commitment demonstrated.

  • Policies, procedures and practices, including quality management related instruments, are complied with Safety, security and environmental risks within the work area are mitigated in accordance with plans and timelines.

  • Carry out any other duties as and when required by direct supervisor.

  • Engineering Degree with a Suitable engineering discipline

  • Preferably achieved Chartered Engineer or equivalent through a relevant professional institution

  • Minimum of 15 years’ in the Similar Field
