Bechtel Corporation Senior RAM and DRACAS Engineer in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
The Riyadh Metro project is a consortium led by Bechtel which includes Almabani General Contractors, Consolidated Contractors Company and Siemens.
The consortium will be responsible for the design, construction, train cars, signalling, electrification and integration of Lines 1 and 2 of the new Riyadh Metro system.
Line 1 will stretch from north to south across Riyadh, covering 24 miles (38km). It will include 22 stations and four transfer stations where it will connect with other new metro lines. Much of Line 1 will be underground.
In contrast, Line 2 will be built mostly on a raised strip in the median of the planned freeway. This line will run east to west and will extend more than 15.7 miles (25km) with 13 stations and three transfer stations.
The new lines will feature stations powered by renewable energy and fully automatic trains.
The contract is the largest engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract in Bechtel’s history and these lines, along with four others, will form the backbone of Riyadh’s new public transportation network.
Purpose of the Job
To provide professional RAM services as a part of the Civil Works JV Integration team to CWJV designers, and design & build Contractors.
To analyse the Employer’s requirements as laid down in the Consortium RAM Plan and within the CWJV RAM plan
To provide processes and procedures to assure that the RAM requirements are met by others.
Ensuring that evidence is provided to the Client confirming that the defined Service Quality criteria and RAM performance have been met by the civil infrastructure during the testing, commissioning and trial running phases of the project.
Reporting to the CWJV RAM Manager develop project specific approaches to management of RAM activities and facilitating compliance with European standards EN50126, EN50128 and EN50129.
Work within the consortium FRACAS/DRACAS process.
Work closely with the Consortium RAM team during the Trial Run and System Demonstration Periods to collect, analyse, and make timely recommendations on the achievement of Contractual Quality of Service and RAM performance targets, and where necessary produce reports providing CWJV improvement action plans.
Carry out detailed analysis of failures and how they impacted on Service Availability working with the CWJV MEP team, Maintenance Organisation and Suppliers.
Undertaking work to quantify the expected performance of the railway in terms of RAM (Reliability, Availability and Maintainability) targets.
Facilitating the definition of all interfaces, electrical, mechanical, environmental and human, internal and external, including any specific Interface Requirements Specifications
Providing support and guidance to Assurance and Engineering Safety Management activities by supplying relevant material for verification, validation, compliance and acceptance.
Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering/Science (preferably IT/ Systems Engineering / Railways)
A working knowledge of Stakeholder Management.
Good interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team.
Ability to interface with railway domain specialists, design managers and construction project managers, in a competent professional manner.
Broad experience of the application of systems engineering to major infrastructure projects.
Significant experience of RAM Management as applied to major railway infrastructure projects / technology development and implementation projects, including a good level of understanding of international good practice RAM standards, norms and guidance documents.
System engineering life-cycles – awareness of different life-cycles and experience of the implementation of lifecycle approaches to real projects.
Good familiarity failure/defect investigation, data recording and root-cause analysis techniques and tools.
